Smashed Grapes : New California wine brand debuts with colorful bottles of Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon

Smashed Grapes

A new California wine brand called Smashed Grapes is designed to make premium wine fun and accessible to beginning wine drinkers. The new line includes Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

"New wine consumers increasingly are embracing premium and super-premium wines as part of their lifestyle," says marketing director Bethany DiSanto. "Many are savvy young professionals who value quality and like good wine, but dislike the stuffiness and ritual often associated with it. The message of Smashed Grapes is that enjoying premium wine can be simple, fun and non-pretentious."

Color-coded by varietal, their bold, vivid labels are awash in bright splashes of color suggesting the splatter of smashed grapes.

What's inside the Smashed Grapes package is similarly bright, fun and accessible. Crafted by Constellation Wines U.S. Chief Winemaker Ken Shyvers from choice fruit grown throughout California's premier wine regions, the four Smashed Grapes wines are fresh, vibrant, and flavorful.

"I wanted the wines to be fruit-driven, with good acidity to keep them bright and fresh," Shyvers says. "The fruit is always front and center, with oak used as a complement."
