On July 22, 2009, Sports Illustrated announced the SI swimsuit app for iPhone. The swimsuit app retails for $2.99, is the mobile extension of SI Swimsuit - a multimedia franchise which reaches more than 66 million adults.

The application features video and photos of all twenty models from Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2009 and allows users to create their own daily sports calendar customizable to follow your favorite pro or college teams' along with your choice of SI Swimsuit model each month. With in the lifestyle category there is tremendous anticipation for the potential of this new application, which could rank among the most popular in the mobile space. Features of the new SI Swimsuit application include:

• Videos from every shoot in the 2009 issue including the fan favorite body painting.
• A collection of 20 pictures for each model, including cover model Bar Refaeli, Danica Patrick, Brooklyn Decker and Hilary Rhoda.
• Customizable sports calendar to keep track of schedules and scores for up to six of your favorite professional and/or college sports teams.

The first time you launch the SI swimsuit app you are invited to customize the calendar by picking your favorite models to be displayed for each month and choose your favorite sports teams.

SI partnered with Azuki systems to create the mobile application. A Blackberry version is coming in August.
