On November 17, 2009, Emission & Power Solutions announced that it received patent approval for its potentiometric sensor in Japan. The solid state sensor selectively detects and directly measures combustion gases, allowing for a further reduction in emissions and improved fuel efficiency. EPS believe the sensor can replace the current sensor being used in gasoline and diesel engines in the market.
The EPS emissions sensor costs significantly less to manufacture, has a significantly more rapid response time, and can detect and reduce harmful emission such as CO, NOx and CO2. It has the ability to reduce all oxygenated gases. Most gasoline engines in the market today use up to four sensors, diesel engines use four and sometimes even more sensors, depending on size of the engine.
