When SHOUTcast is added to anything, users are amazed by the number and quality of audio programming choices. Radio stations from around the world become available where one is.
On December 21, 2009, Syabas announced immediate availability of AOL's free SHOUTcast radio directory on the Popcorn Hour product line. The free SHOUTcast Radio Directory application allows Popcorn Hour owners to access more than 32,000 professional and community programmed radio stations that span more than thirty genres of music, news, talk, public, community and world programming. Using the Popcorn Hour remote, consumers can search the SHOUTcast radio directory and bookmark their favorite stations included in the directory.
Syabas is also working with SHOUTcast to port the application to the company's new DAVID platform. Announced in May of this year, the DAVID platform consists of a new software development kit (SDK) and an over-the-top settop device SDK that incorporates the ability to develop and deploy applications to the company's app store portal.
In addition to making available the SHOUTcast Radio Directory, the Popcorn Hour products support the playback of more than thirty Internet video formats, including MPEG 1, 2, 4, AVI, H.264, Xvid, MKV, Windows Media and others. Popcorn Hour products today stream news and entertainment content from a number video partner sites including Vuze, Revision 3, Mediafly, CNET TV, Veoh, Blip.tv, NBC, CBS, CNN and BBC and Internet radio sites, such as Radio box.
