Melanie is the number one ranked US weightlifter, has been a National Champion 8 times, and won a bronze medal at the 2007 Pan Am Games. She is also the first American woman to clean and jerk twice her body weight. Time magazine recently nominated Roach among the top 100 global athletes to watch in Beijing. ABC News and US News & World Report have both included her among the top twenty American athletes heading to China.

She is garnering a lot of media attention, not only for her incredible performance capability, but for having overcome extreme challenges to get to this point, including a herniated disk that ended her chances in the 2000 Olympics, and raising a young family of three that includes a son Drew, who suffers from autism.
