Duracell instant charger

Some cell phones and smart phones have notoriously short battery lives. The earlier iPhones (before the 3GS - which are much better) cannot last a day on their own. What do you do if you have to travel and won't have access to an outlet? On January 5, 2010, Duracell announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the Duracell instant charger, which falls under the company's collection of Smart Power products that go beyond the traditional battery to address the ever-growing and ever-changing power needs of the modern consumer.

Products entered in the Design and Engineering Awards program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 36 product categories.

The Duracell Instant Charger is a Lithium Ion Rechargeable charger that provides reserve power for popular mobile devices, such as BlackBerrys, iPods and cellphones that come with USB power cords. With the Instant Charger users can enjoy up to 35 hours of additional power that is efficiently managed with an on/off switch. It is available now for $29.99.

I found out about short battery life on a hike. I wanted to tweet about the hike, taking pictures and posting them to Twitpic. After a few hours, I discovered that I was running low on battery. The Duracell instant charger would have been very useful.
