The N's newest original half-hour series Beyond the Break (formerly Makaha Surf) was shot entirely on location in Oahu, Hawaii. The twenty-episode series premieres on air with an hour-long special on Friday June 2 at 8:30 pm ET on The N. The first two weeks of the series will premiere Fridays at 8:30 pm until June 16 when it moves to its regular time of 8.
Beyond the Break is an intense dramatic series combining surf and sun as it drops in on the competitive world of professional surfing. Four passionate women with diverse backgrounds will pursue their dreams of becoming professional surfers. But in order to remain afloat, each of them must overcome issues to capture surf stardom from WaveSync, a struggling surf company.
David Chokachi plays Justin Healy, a former surfing legend and Pipeline Masters Champ who's been given a second chance to right his wrongs as a coach for WaveSync. Justin is hired to help bring the company back on top as he mentors the women in both their personal and professional endeavors. As Justin grapples with his own challenges, he must take on a new role as coach and confidant for a household of four women with four different personalities.
"Beyond the Break embodies every teen's dream -- to live on the beach, get paid and surf in Hawaii, America's paradise," said Kenny Miller of The N. "The series showcases the highs and lows of leaving home and confronting the reality that pursuing your dreams is much harder than you ever imagined."
The N will also be offering exclusive Beyond the Break content online. Fans will have VIP access to exclusive clips, episodic information, cast profiles and character descriptions.

On Friday, June 2, The N will unveil Beyond the Break: The Webisodes, a narrative original online companion series that explores the characters' back stories and takes a closer look at relationships within the WaveSync house. New webisodes will premiere online after the conclusion of each televised episode along with exclusive sneak peeks of upcoming episodes.
The cast features: Tiffany Hines as Birdie, Natalie Ramsey as Lacey, Suzie Pollard as Dawn, Ross Thomas as Bailey, Michael Copon as Vin, and newcomers Jason Tam as Shoe and Sonya Balmores as Kai.
Birdie Scott (Tiffany Hines): Birdie is a bit of a rookie surfer, but since she left college against her parent's wishes to pursue surfing, she must work to pay back the loan her parents took out for her education.
Lacey Farmer (Natalie Ramsey): Moving to Hawaii is a drastic life change for Lacey, who cuts the ties to her old life in order to get a fresh start with WaveSync. But it's not certain whether her past will prevent her from achieving her dreams.
Dawn Preston (Suzie Pollard): Dawn realizes the freedom of being out on her own, but that freedom also comes with responsibility. Dawn is an incredible surfer with a party attitude that may interfere with her becoming the best. And being an heiress won't necessarily buy her out of trouble.
Kai Kealoha (Sonya Balmores): Kai is the only local on the team. She knows the most about the island but has a lot to learn about life.
