THINQ releases next version of learning management system

E-Learning

THINQ Learning Solutions, Inc. today announced availability of the THINQ TrainingServer Learning Management System (LMS) 5.2, the latest version of the company's industry-leading LMS technology. Built upon an n-tier, Web-based architecture, THINQ LMS 5.2 features Web services to provide state-of-the-art system integration and unmatched system configurability.

"Technology-enabled learning has been around for more than 20 years. However, e-learning was made more relevant, feasible and powerful when its reach was extended by Web-based approaches," said Kathy Harris, vice president, Gartner Inc. "e-Learning is an inherent part of the Web."

In this latest version, THINQ's solution can communicate with other enterprise applications using Web services to integrate with existing company portals and business systems -- without customizing the application. Web services allow customers to leverage Human Resources and accounting applications, as well as legacy training technologies and learning investments, to help maximize the performance/total cost of ownership of all systems.

With THINQ LMS 5.2, customers can efficiently deploy and maintain the system without the need for managing additional software on learners' workstations. System maintenance costs are consequently reduced, as upgrades do not occur at the workstation level, but instead at the application level.

The THINQ LMS 5.2 baseline product comes bundled with a set of tools to configure the system to meet organizations' specific business, process and learner needs. These tools can be used to configure the learner and administrator interfaces, significantly reducing time to implement and ensuring that the look and feel of the LMS is familiar to all users. Any configurations or branding that a customer makes are easily upgradeable, minimizing the cost to move to a newer version of the software. To date, THINQ is the only LMS provider to offer this level of configuration capabilities.

Using THINQ LMS 5.2, customers can create multiple learner self-service sites, in varying languages and dialects -- including regional and company- specific terminology -- with accessibility from just one URL. Therefore, the application recognizes the user group or groups to which an individual learner is assigned, without having to maintain separate sites for each user group profile. This streamlined access significantly cuts overall deployment costs, compared with competitive LMS deployments requiring multiple URLs for multiple languages.

"Our customers want to achieve change faster with minimal risk," said Ray Maskell, president and CEO, THINQ. "THINQ LMS 5.2 is born on the Web, leverages the latest technologies and is based on our customers' business requirements. Working closely with our Customer Advisory Board and leveraging feedback from the field, we have built a product that allows an organization to drive success through its people."
