Pennsylvania Wine : Pennsylvania Wineries Provide Holiday Gift Ideas

Grapes

It's that time of year again - the holiday shopping season. If the thought of facing another crowded mall robs you of holiday spirit, head instead to a Pennsylvania winery. Relax, enjoy, and taste some deliciously appealing Pennsylvania wines while shopping for almost every adult on your list.

"There is a Pennsylvania winery about 45 minutes from anywhere in the state, and many are much closer than most people think," Pennsylvania Wine Association Executive Director Jenny Engle shares. "Many wineries are located in charming restored barns, while others feature a more modern atmosphere. A holiday trip to a Pennsylvania winery beats fighting for parking at the mall and is a lot more fun for the giver, as well as the receiver of the gift!"

When choosing Pennsylvania wine as a gift, the perfect size is always in stock - from demi-bouteilles or splits to standard 375 ml bottles and larger. Reds, whites and roses are available in sweet through dry varieties. Don't forget that sparkling varieties make great gifts, and what a way to ring in the New Year.

Pennsylvania wines offer something for everyone. Gift ideas include:

  • A bottle of wine with some candles and bubble bath for a stressed-out friend.
  • A bottle of sparkling wine and champagne glasses will be appreciated by newlyweds celebrating their first holiday together ... or any harried couple.
  • Personalized labels on your favorite Pennsylvania wine makes the perfect client gift or a thoughtful gift for friends and family.
  • A bottle of wine, a loaf of bread and a wedge of cheese in a basket for a romantic picnic.
  • Paired with flowers or on its own, a bottle of PA wine as a hostess gift is sure to please.
Most wineries also offer wine accessories ranging from corkscrews to wine charms. In addition, many sell unique wine racks, books and other items to complete a gift basket.

"Many wineries allow phone or on-line orders and will gladly ship your gift," Engle said. "But visiting a Pennsylvania winery makes the whole experience a lot more fun."
