A Chinese biotechnology company today announced it will launch a research center in China focused on helping treat patients suffering from enuresis or chronic bedwetting syndrome through the Company's flagship medical product, Cease-Enuresis Soft Gel.

Shujun Liu, Chief Executive Officer of American Oriental Bioengineering, commented, "The availability of treatment options for enuresis, or bedwetting, is currently under-whelming, despite the fact that the disease plagues so many children and adults. We believe that this disease represents another attractive business opportunity and substantial market potentials for our Cease-Enuresis Soft Gel, the Company's flagship product for curing bedwetting, since the needs of this large, recurring market are presently underserved. Through the newly established research center, American Oriental Bioengineering will focus on the study of various treatment methodologies, including the development and improvement of treatments using our Cease- Enuresis Soft Gel."

Enuresis in Children

  • Enuresis, or chronic bedwetting, is a common childhood sleep disorder.
  • Statistics show that around 30% of the worldwide population is children age 2 to 14, of which 5% suffers from bed wetting. Since the total worldwide population is around 6 billion, there are approximately 1.8 billion children age 2 to 14, equating to a market size for bedwetting medicine of around 90 million
  • Research shows that in China around 10% of children age 3 to 14 children suffer from bedwetting. The total population of China is around 1.3 billion, of which 200 million are children 3 to 14 years old, making the addressable market in China for bedwetting medicine about around 20 million children.

Enuresis in the Elderly

  • In China, there are approximately 400 million elderly, with around 20% suffering from bedwetting syndrome. This implies an addressable market of around 80 million elderly in China alone.
  • The living standard of the elderly in China continues to improve, with many now health conscious and willing to spend money on health care and efforts to improve their quality of life.

Leveraging on our Cease-Enuresis Soft Gel and the newly established research center, we believe the Company can capture a substantial market share of serving patients suffering from enuresis or chronic bedwetting syndrome."
