Empress Software announces the Empress Data Management System is accessible to people with disabilities according to the rules established by the federal government in Section 508. Section 508, an amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, requires Federal agencies to ensure that electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities - "Fulfilling America's Promise to Americans with Disabilities".
Empress RDBMS and companion products including Empress JDBC Interface and Empress Replication Server, are designed to have all its features, commands and utilities capable of being executed as textual input and providing textual output. Empress products work tightly with the underlying operating system allowing the database to interoperate fully with operating system accessibility features and creating a Data Management System that is accessible to people with disabilities. For example, Empress Data Management System interfaces with assistive technologies like screen readers and Braille devices for people with vision impairments.
